How did you come to ministry? Between my junior and senior year of high school I felt a strong call to vocational ministry either as a missionary or as a pastor. Since then, I have enjoyed 3 years as a missionary in Latin America and 11years as a pastor in a local church.
Where did you study? I received an A.A. degree from Central Christian College in McPherson, KS, in 1990. After graduating I spent a year serving as a VISA missionary in the Dominican Republic. In 1993 I earned a B.A. in Sociology from Roberts Wesleyan College. After a few years of pastoral service, I enrolled at Northeastern Seminary and received a Masters in Theological Studies in 2000.
Who has influenced you the most in your ministry and why? Those that have impacted my life in ministry are many. Perhaps those that have influenced the most are my family members that are pastors. My dad, brother, and brother-in-law have all had very successful ministries in the pastorate. By watching, listening, and gleaning from their consistent example and fidelity to the gospel, my life as a minister has been greatly enriched.
Are you married, do you have children? I met my wonderful wife Kristin, at Roberts Weslyan College in 1991. We were married in 1994 and have been living out an adventure of faith, love, and service ever since. Along the way, we have been blessed with four children - Addison, Felicia, Isaac, and Jacob.
What do you like to do in your spare time? I enjoy reading the newspaper with a good cup of coffee. While working around the house I enjoy listening to NPR, ESPN, and The Economist podcasts. On the sporting end of life, I try to keep up with whatever my kids are playing, and I also enjoy the opportunity to play golf with guys in the church. On a daily basis, Kristin and I like to end the day talking, reading, or watching a movie.

How did you come to ministry? I came to ministry and to a personal relationship with God the long way.I was not raised in the church or with any faith and I faced many challenges. My struggles also included the bondage of alcoholism where I eventually surrendered and called upon God for help, and he did! God freed me from that addiction in May of 1991! It was years later that I came to know Christ Jesus in a personal way and immediately knew that I was called to share my experience, and the good news of freedom in Christ, with others whose struggles I could understand so well. God is good and He is good all the time. Life is good and abundant.
